High-quality fire protection for a multifunctional sports arena
In January 2025, the SAP Garden in Munich was completed as the home venue of EHC Red Bull München ice hockey club and FC Bayern Basketball. The arena seats up to 11,500 spectators and is designed for a wide variety of events. To meet the high safety requirements, first-class fire resistance gates of the types TSN-1 and TSN-2 from System Schröders were installed.
HORCH GmbH – long-standing expertise in System Schröders fire resistance doors
HORCH GmbH from Neudenau, Baden-Württemberg, is a licensed System Schröders manufacturing company, specialised in the production of steel doors and gates for fire resistance, fire protection, smoke control, burglar resistance, and acoustic performance. With the production and installation of the fire resistance gates, HORCH GmbH contributed significantly to the successful construction of the SAP Garden.
Challenge: oversized gates
As a long-standing System Schröders licensee, HORCH GmbH has extensive experience in implementing custom solutions for doors and gates. For the SAP Garden, the company supplied 15 oversized gates, CE-marked according to EN 16034, in dimensions of up to 4,600 x 4,600 mm. These gates provide effective fire and smoke protection according to EI230-S200-C5 and are equipped with additional special functions such as panic function, fire-resistant glazing, as well as hold-open and self-closing devices.
Reliable safety through smooth opening and closing
A central concern in planning and implementation was ensuring smooth opening and closing of the gates despite the high gate leaf weights. The reliability of the closing mechanisms was therefore of paramount importance, especially in the event of a fire.
The installation situation posed a further challenge, which was successfully mastered thanks to the experience of the HORCH employees.
Through the use of heavy, seamless gate leaves with state-of-the-art equipment, such as self-closing devices from Dorma and hold-open systems from Hekatron, fire protection was significantly improved. At the same time, accessibility in the SAP Garden was ensured at the highest level.
The custom solutions manufactured by HORCH GmbH thus contribute significantly to the safety and functionality of this exceptional venue.
