Patented easy-running hinges – for effortless opening of heavy security doors
Security doors, for example fire resistance doors, are heavy due to their product characteristics and therefore difficult to open, particularly for seniors, children, and people with disabilities. Yet in an emergency, a fire resistance door that is easy to open can be a decisive advantage that saves lives.
System Schröders has developed and patented a new easy-running bearing specifically for this purpose. By reducing friction, it lowers the required opening forces of conventional ball-bearing door hinges by 50 to 60 percent, thereby converting the security doors of our ModulSystem into easy-running doors.
Equipping escape routes with these System Schröders easy-running doors can make the difference in providing life-saving additional safety.
Opening forces far below the required regulation
The easy-running bearing was also developed to comply with the Technical Delivery Conditions and Technical Test Specifications for Doors and Gates in Road Tunnels
. According to these, fire resistance escape doors may have a maximum opening force of 60 Newton.
A door leaf equipped with the new easy-running bearing, measuring 1,200 x 2,250 millimetres and weighing 161.5 kilograms, requires an opening force of only 35 Newton with correctly adjusted door closer.
System Schröders easy-running doors thus fall significantly below the test specifications, which enormously increases safety on escape routes.
Maintenance-free
In addition to the gain in safety through easier opening, the easy-running bearings are practically maintenance-free. In contrast to conventional bearings, the prescribed annual maintenance is no longer necessary – regular inspection and greasing of the bearing is not required. This means for you: saving costs while increasing safety.

Permanently durable
The new easy-running bearing is also characterized by high durability. In endurance tests, the slide bearing showed no significant wear even after 700,000 completed test cycles. The low opening forces were retained.
The new composite bearing is suitable for all System Schröders fire resistance, smoke control, burglar resistance, sound insulation, and external doors. Even existing System Schröders doors can easily be retrofitted into easy-running doors.
The System Schröders easy-running hinges are available as two-part or three-part door hinges as required.
